CREATIVE THINGS:
The Camera Years

Although I could be found with a camera of one sort or another in my hands throughout most of my life, it is somewhat of an accident that I make a living “Through the Lens”.

From an early age growing up in Michigan, I was always excited about art and showed potential with my early drawings and attempts to copy my favorite cartoons. I soon realized, like most children do, that this gift was a good way of getting attention and making friends. And so I started down a path chasing dreams and whimsy that has lead to many wonderful collaborations.

<Insert relatively normal childhood and education here>

With a BFA and MFA in Design and Technical Theatre, I set out on my creative career that eventually morphed into Graphic Design and Web Development. But one way or another I found myself behind a camera, creating content or shooting projects for my portfolio, etc.

Living in Boulder since the early nineties eventually lead to a connection with the jeweler Todd Reed. It was at this point that photography became a focus in my life. Not only was I photographing jewelry, I was also documenting the people, places and events as Todd’s company grew. Shooting both stills and video for internal and public facing marketing became part of the daily routine. My early days of shooting Super 8mm films had transformed from a teenage passion into a valuable skillset in the age of the internet. Life was starting to repeat itself…

Now any given day finds me collaborating with various makers and artists as I attempt to capture product images that support and elevate the clients vision.

When I am not behind the lens you will likely find me at home in the mountains, playing music with friends, walking my dog and cats, or spending time in the garden with the longest collaboration of my life, my wife.
